Hagee made a statement defending his actions linked above whereby he clarified his criticisms to include all anti-semitism. In light of the passages in Jeremiah 51 that are mirrored in Revelation 17 by which both speak of Babylon, but in each case the Babylon is unique and the context is historical, in both cases the temple was destroyed by the empires that invaded and controlled Jerusalem. In the latter case the blood of the saints is the blood of the Jewish people and of the Christian martyrs who were often Jews. Revelation is a Jewish book, written by a Jewish Christian author who wrote for an audience that would know exactly what that passage meant, while masking the true meaning from the Romans. In light of this I am willing to accept Hagee’s explanation given that the Crusaders did sack Jerusalem (although there was no temple to destroy, nor did Hitler invade Jerusalem and destroy a temple), assuming he’s more careful in the future in his treatment of history and prophecy.”
